Please choose the type of appointment you would like to schedule.
*New dates are added on Monday of each week. If there are no available dates on our online booking calendar, then contact us by EMAIL to complete your appointment: hillside@pfaonline.org. Or check back on Monday of next week when new dates are added. Appointments CANNOT be made on the PFA Facebook or Instagram pages.
Surgery Notices
If your animal was diagnosed with a pyometra, please contact the clinic’s emergency extension immediately: (973)-282-0890 ext. 203
We cannot provide surgery for:
- English Bulldogs
- Bengal cats
- any animal with a history of seizures
Spay/Neuter surgery for dogs, aged seven-years and older will require mandatory bloodwork ($135.00) on the day of their surgery.
Spay/Neuter surgery for Doberman Pinschers will require mandatory BMBT testing ($45.00) on the day of their surgery.

Contacting Hillside
As our largest and oldest location, there is a very active demand for the services offered at PFA Hillside. To schedule a spay/neuter surgery appointment, please use the online scheduling form at the top of this page; new dates are added weekly.
If no dates are available, we recommend that you contact our staff by EMAIL at hillside@pfaonline.org to complete the appointment process. If you do not have access to a reliable email service, please call our office at (973)-282-0890 and leave a voicemail message. Appointments cannot be completed and medical diagnoses cannot be provided over social media.
* Please allow for up to 10 – 15 business days for a personalized response to every incoming request.
For questions about Wellness services like vaccines, preventative care, and your pet’s existing medical records, please contact hillsidewellness@pfaonline.org.
Surgery Day Procedure
Owners must drop-off their pets at the times listed in the right-hand column. Use our virtual check-in page while you are in the parking lot to mark your attendance; our staff will instruct you on when to enter the building. We cannot admit pets dropped off after these times. If your appointment confirmation email notes a different drop-off time, please ignore the time noted in that email.
- Dogs must be on a leash.
- Pet cats must be in individual plastic carriers.
- Feral cats must be in a humane trap.
Pick-up will be on the same day as surgery, and confirmed on the morning on the appointment. We do not keep pets overnight at our clinic!
- Your pet is 4 months old or older and ate anything after 12AM.
- Your pet is less than 4 months old and ate anything after 4AM.
- Your pet is coughing, sneezing, vomiting or has diarrhea.
Please reschedule online using our standard appointment booking form.
If your pet is placed on medication (excluding heartworm preventative) for any reason prior to their surgery date, you must contact the office to inform us, so that we can determine if the chosen surgery date can resume as planned, or should be rescheduled.

Vaccine & Preventative Services
PFA offers same-day service for vaccines, microchips, and other preventative care. No advance appointments are needed.
On the morning of your planned visit: Clients must reserve their place in line by using our online check-in page. Please expect increased wait-times based on the volume of check-ins. Clients must CHECK-IN FROM HOME and wait for our staff to text you to come to the clinic. Once you are contacted, please let us know how long your commute to the clinic will be. It is your responsibility to be present when your number is called. Vaccine & preventative services will close once check-in capacity has been reached for the day.

Inclement Weather
In the event of severe weather, clinic closures will be announced with a special update on our outgoing voicemail. If this affects your planned visit, please call your local clinic’s voicemail for a status update.

Help keep our clinics stocked with the most frequently-used items; by donating these goods to our nonprofit organization, you are helping our team reduce costs and allowing us to focus more of our spending on all the vulnerable animals we care for! You can donate via Amazon Online Shopping or personally delivering items to your local PFA clinic.
