Handsome is a seven-year-old hound dog who lives with his mom, “D,” and her newborn baby.  This loving pup was raised well and got along great with children – but this little trio was rocked when they lost their apartment and struggled to find a safe place to live during the winter.  “D” could not find any assistance caring for Handsome, while simultaneously tending to her newborn son, and trying to secure permanent, pet-friendly housing for all three.  She grew very worried that she would have to surrender Handsome to a shelter – until she contacted PFA and we enrolled them in our Whole Families Program.

We cared for Handsome in a PFA Foster Home, while we helped “D” get back on her feet with housing resources.  We supplied Handsome with ongoing vet care, supplies, and meals, while his foster guardian Bobbi showered him with attention and affection.

This community support was the exact thing needed for this family and in the spring, “D” was able to move into a new residence, where she was quickly reunited with Handsome!  Mother, child, and pet are all doing much better now, and “D” continues to share her appreciation for PFA with updates from their happy home!
